(October 03, 2012 Charlottetown PE) - As tourism gears down on Prince Edward Island for the year, the Cruise season is just ramping up for its grand finale. In a mere five weeks, the Historic Charlottetown Seaport will welcome over 51,000 passengers and 23,000 crew.

The week of October 8th will see 18,899 passengers and 8,400 crew hitting the streets and making their way around the Island. Twelve ships calling in only seven days represent these numbers.

“These numbers are unprecedented for our Cruise business on Prince Edward Island. The Fall season has typically been busy for us, but this is certainly an impressive amount of people for this time of year.” States Les Parsons, CEO of the Charlottetown Harbour Authority.

With the Cruise lines making these scheduled stops, the Harbour Authority is also wrapping up the last three inaugural visits. These three inaugural calls will take place on October 05th with the Seabourn Sojourn, October 07 with the MV Arcadia and October 09 with the Emerald Princess.

“We’re really encouraging local tourism operators, restaurants and retailers to be open and ready with this many people arriving next week.” Suggested Corryn Morrissey, Manger of Marketing and Communications with the Authority.
