Historic Charlottetown Seaport Looks to Another Solid Cruise Season in 2014
(January 09, 2014 – Charlottetown, PEI) With the completion of a record-breaking cruise season in 2013, the Charlottetown Harbour Authority looks forward to another solid season in 2014.
The 2014 cruise season will kick off on May 08, with a call from Holland America’s Veendam. Holland America, the Harbour Authority’s largest cruise client, has 47 of the 64 ship calls scheduled for this season.
The schedule is set to welcome approximately 133,370 passengers and crew and will once again welcome back calls from Holland America through the summer months. “Coming off of such a great cruise season in 2013, we are thrilled to be maintaining such strong numbers,” states Corryn Morrissey, Manager of Marketing and Communications with the Charlottetown Harbour Authority. “Having the opportunity to welcome ships during the summer months is a great addition to an already successful industry.”
This year’s season will begin early May and will welcome ships right through to early November. The Legend of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean ship, will wrap up the season with a 12-night Canada and Bermuda cruise. “This repositioning cruise is a wonderful way to wrap up the 2014,” says Les Parsons, CEO for the Harbour Authority.
